02 / THE SETUP

Let’s get you
up and running.

Follow the steps on your device and in Trezor Suite. The exact screens can vary by model and software version; trust what appears on your physical device.

01
CONNECT

Plug in your Trezor

Connect your device to your computer or mobile device using the supplied cable. Visit trezor.io/start by typing the address yourself. Avoid links in unexpected messages or ads.

Why type the address yourself?

Look carefully for the official trezor.io domain before downloading anything. Search ads and lookalike domains can lead to imitation software designed to steal information.

INSTALL

Get Trezor Suite

Choose the official desktop app or use the supported web experience. Install any firmware update offered by Suite during setup. Your device will show prompts for important actions—confirm them on the device itself.

What is firmware?

Firmware is the software that runs on your hardware wallet. Suite guides you through installing the authentic version. Do not install files sent by a stranger or a support account in a direct message.

BACK UP

Create your wallet backup

Your device will guide you through creating a recovery seed (also called a backup). Write each word in the correct order on the supplied backup material, privately and offline. Check every word carefully.

Keep these words secret

Your recovery seed can restore access to your wallet. Anyone who gets it may control the assets protected by it. Trezor support will never ask you to reveal or enter your seed online.

✳Offline.
Private.
04
PROTECT

Set a PIN and verify

Set a PIN using the instructions on your device. You can then explore accounts in Suite. Before making a transaction, verify the recipient and amount on your Trezor screen—not only on your computer.

One last safety check

Keep your device and recovery backup in secure places. Consider a small test transaction before moving larger amounts, and learn how fees and addresses work for the network you use.

03 / SECURITY, SIMPLIFIED

Your recovery seed
is the master key.

It is the backup that can restore your wallet if your device is lost or damaged. Treat it like the most valuable thing you own: write it down offline, store it somewhere private and secure, and never photograph it or put it in cloud storage.

THE GOLDEN RULE

No one legitimate
needs your recovery seed.

Not support. Not a website. Not a person helping you troubleshoot.

Keep it offline. Keep it yours.
